Album Review: Bullet For My Valentine - Venom

There have not been many UK rock acts that look like long term prospects, most make an album but fail to follow up with an equally good album. UK outfit Bullet For My Valentine have come up with an album that mixes the menace and power of rock with some surprising melodic tracks.

With influences ranging from Megadeth and more recently Avenged Sevenfold this could be one of the best UK rock albums of the year. The tracks are eagerly awaited to be heard live when the band play York's Barbican Venue on Friday 9 October.

Standout tracks are No Way Out where the aggression of the verses is met with a melodic chorus, this is typical of most of the tracks on the album. Army of Noise should be on the playlist of any discerning heavy rock fan.

Things slow down on You Want A Battle, again the track is a modern rock track that has an emotive vocal. Skin has the twin guitars of Thin Lizzy mixed with a racing beat typical of Iron Maiden. It appears the future of British Metal is in good hands with this fine album from Bullet From My Valentine.

4 out of 5.
