Clean Bandit Supported By Jess Glynne - Manchester Apollo

Jess Glynne was the lead vocalist on the Clean Bandit hits but as well as guesting on their tracks she also has a promising solo career ahead of her and was the support act on Clean Bandits short UK tour.

Dressed all in black and wearing an outfit that you would associate with a rap artist, her ginger hair makes her stand out. Backed with a tight band and two soulful backing singers her set was soulful and uplifting.

Her own hit, Right Here had the sell out audience in the palm of her hand, whilst My Love showcased her strong vocals. Closing her 7 song set with her new single Hold My Hand, it looks like this could be her biggest solo hit so far. Surprisingly the opening verse of the track has a touch of the Dolly Parton track, 9 to 5, before the track finds its own direction.

Classically trained Clean Bandit have successfully mixed classical influences over early 1990's house music and it works superbly, in doing this they have taken piano driven house music and fused it into their own style.

The band seems taken back by the warm response from the Manchester audience with them describing the gig as one of the best of their career. Classy and professional you get the feeling you are watching an act that understand exactly what they are doing; masters at work, so to speak.

Their new single, Stronger, which they perform mid-set, showcases all what is best about the band: uplifting, melodic and memorable with a shelf life past the end of this month.
