Let It Be Comes North

Let It Be has been successfully running in London's West End and has now travelled north for a 2 week run at the Opera House in Blackpool.

The show is a run through of The Beatles songs performed by 4 look-alikes who even sound like The Beatles. You might think that this is nothing new and that it has been done before by The Bootleg Beatles, which is true but the difference between that show and this is that this show tends to play a one venue and not travel as much.

The show follows The Beatles career, performing the hits in chronological order. Fittingly the show starts with the band performing at Liverpool's Cavern Club with the band singing I Saw Her Standing There.

We get their Royal Variety Performance where John Lennon said the legendary lines "those in the cheap seats can clap along, those of you in the expensive seats can rattle your jewellery"

The band recreates the historic Shea Stadium performance when the band took America by storm. 2 video screens above the stage also help to recreate images from the era.

After the interval it was, for me, the best part of the show where the band dress in the Sgt Pepper uniforms as the band play When I'm Sixty Four, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and the superb A Day in the Life.

The concert ends with the Abbey Road tracks such as Let it Be and Hey Jude. Whether it is a trip down memory lane or just wanting to discover The Beatles music, this show is an entertaining and true reflection of the most influential groups in British music. A Fab show with the music of the Fab Four.

Runs until Sunday 12th October - tickets from: www.wintergardensblackpool.co.uk
