A Slice Of Africa In Doncaster!
The award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park is gearing up for a family fun-filled February half-term.
The innovative park offers amazing indoor and outdoor play areas, a full programme of ranger talks and feeding times and of course, the opportunity to get close-up to some of the world’s most endangered species.
The mesmerising walk-through park takes visitors through more than 100 acres of unrivalled reserves that are home to 400+ animals from 70 species.
“The school holidays are the perfect opportunity to spend time with the family and enjoy all that is on offer at YWP,” said John Minion, CEO of the park at Branton, near Doncaster. “It is full of adventure and a chance to learn about some of the most endangered animals on the planet. We hope that our guests will enjoy a fantastic day out and also find out about the work we do for conservation, welfare and the environment.”
The park celebrates International Polar Day on February 27th and has been invited to highlight the plight of the polar bears via a live stream that will be seen all across the world via Facebook. YWP experts will be interviewed for the Polar Bear’s International stream from the 10-acre reserve Project Polar, home to the country’s only polar bears Victor, Pixel, Nissan and Nobby.
Amongst the many half-term attractions are the endangered Amur Tigers, whose numbers have dwindled to less than 500 in the world, and the Amur Leopard, the most endangered big cat in the world. The park is also home to lions, Giant Otters, Eland and Lechwe antelope, Grevy’s Zebra, Wild Bactrian Camels, Guinea Baboons, giraffes and many more animals.
YWP also boasts indoor and outdoor play areas, a variety of food outlets and the Safari Village which has its own café, the Safari Store and a range of boutique shops.
The weather proof Monkey Play Barn offers children the chance to enjoy three levels of play with a range of climbing frames, dens, slides and rope bridges while adults can relax with a coffee.
Since opening in 2009 YWP has become the UK’s fastest growing and most innovative wildlife attractions - offering families an entertaining and educational day out.
