Album Review - The Brand New Heavies - Sweet Freaks (Ear Music)

Fans of the Brand New Heavies are used to waiting a few years between each new album from the band but the band have taken the unusual step of releasing a new album within 18 months of the last one. Their new album Sweet Freaks is released on Monday 3 November.

Sweet Freaks continues in the style we have become used to from the band. The title track Sweet Freaks sounds very familiar whilst their version of Peter Gabriel's hit; Sledgehammer is given the Brand New Heavies makeover.

Elsewhere on the album standout tracks include In The Name of Love, '95 Tonight where new lead vocalist Dawn Joseph duets with Jan Kincaid and We Live for the Summer. Their music does sound better in the summer it has to be said but for now they are bringing the warm summer sunshine into our lives in dreary November.
