Album Review: Jess And The Bandits - Smoke & Mirrors (Absolute)

If you like The Shires or Shania Twain then I can guarantee that you will like this album. After hearing the album a few times you begin to wonder why the group are not as big as the aforementioned artists.

Melodic, country infused pop is a good description of the band. The album starts off with I'm Not Going Home, an uplifting track that I'm sure will sound superb when the band play live. The track has that feel good Factor that Katrina and the Waves had with Walking on Sunshine.

The title track of the album, Smoke & Mirrors is a lovely ballad with a touching lyric whilst other standout tracks include World Still Round, Kings of Summer and Gone Girl.

At over 14 tracks long the album is a bit of a feast but there is nothing really they could leave out here.

They can rock too as Line Of Fire demonstrates before closing with the tender ballad Fault Lines which has a 60's feel to it.

All they need now is for you to discover them.

I give the album 4 out of 5
