Album Review: Rumer - Into Colour (Atlantic Records)

Four years after she released her debut album, Rumer has returned with her new album, Into Colour.

Her voice always reminded me of Karen Carpenter and this set of new songs does not alter my opinion. The album deals with personal issues such as mental health issues on Dangerous and miscarriage on Butterfly.

It is an easy album to listen to; the songs are memorable and likeable. Apparently the album was produced by her finance Rob Shirakbari who was the musical director for Burt Bacharach and Dionne Warwick. You can hear these strong influences throughout the album.

The best tracks on the album are Pizza and Pinball and Reach Out, a track about being friendly towards lonely people. If you listen to Radio 2 you will have heard a lot of Rumer's music on there. It is a very smooth album but one which you will return to again and again.
