Brownlee Brothers’ Charity Event A Tri-umph
L-R: Rena Gueller, Alistair Brownlee, Jonny Brownlee, Simon Gueller
A new charity event run by a Yorkshire Michelin star restaurant and the Brownlee brothers has been declared a tri-umph.

The Olympic triathlon stars teamed up with The Box Tree in Ilkley – run by husband and wife team, Simon and Rena Gueller – to raise money for The Brownlee Foundation at a special event at the famous restaurant last Thursday night.

Around 50 people gathered to meet the world-famous brothers and enjoy a six course meal designed by Michelin chef, Simon.

Money is still coming in which will go towards helping more kids get active in sport as well as support for sports coaches.

Alistair Brownlee said:
“We’ve known Rena and Simon for a while now and when they suggested doing something for the Foundation to raise money, we were made up. It was a lot of work for them, but it was all worth it and for a great cause.

“It’s easy to just focus on yourself, your own performance and your own career – but sport’s given me and Jonny so much and the Foundation is about inspiring the next generation to be active and enjoy the wonderful Yorkshire countryside.”

Simon Gueller said:
“It’s always been our ambition to be part of something bigger than ourselves which is why we get involved with other organisations to support what they do, whether it be tourism, charity or something else. The brothers are, for me, two of the best triathletes the world has ever seen. But they’re honest, grounded lads who want to make a difference too.”

Rena added:
“We’re used to doing major events through our events company, so we felt confident we could deliver something special and were delighted it went so well. This isn’t a flash in the pan, we want to make it an annual event and we’re planning the next event now.”

Major auction prizes included a signed 2018 Scott Foil bicycle, a Tag Heuer watch and a weekend away at hotel spa with Michelin dinner for 2 in Cannes.

The event was backed by key businesses too including R & J Butchers, Lister Horsfall, Wellocks, House of Townend, Corney & Barrow, Hennings and Enotria.
