Caro Emerald - Emerald Island
Graham Clark, Features Writer
Dutch singer Caro Emerald has just released this mini album ahead of her current UK tour.
The six tracks are quite subdued. The album cover reflects a tropical island and the first track, Tahitian Skies is more downbeat than any South Pacific sounding number. Still jazzy but it is a song that you need to hear a few times before it hits you.

|The Potting Shed, Beverley|
Whatchugot sounds like a slowed down Liquid Lunch, a live favourite from her repertoire. "Are you Italian, you dress so fine" she sings over a slow looping beat.
The Dark, a melodic instrumental closes the 6 track mini album. For Emerald fans this is a sweetener before the next full album is released.
I give the album 3 out of 5.
