Crowne Plaza Hotel, Leeds

Recently benefitting from a 4.5 million refurbishment the Leeds Crowne Plaza Hotel feels like a new hotel.

The eye catching central staircase is still there as you enter the reception area. Check in was swift, friendly and professional.

The rooms come as standard, Deluxe or suites, we stayed in a Deluxe room which had access to the Club Lounge. The Deluxe room was clean with a very comfortable bed. A nice touch was having complimentary water in the fridge.

As is normal these days Wi Fi was free but I found it a little slow, probably because we were on one of the upper floors. The huge flat screen TV had all the usual channels. The bathroom was well equipped too.

They have come up with a new idea called the "Sleep Advantage" which includes 2 mini solutions for a better night's sleep. Whether they work or not I am not sure as the sumptuous bedding gave me a great night's sleep.

The Club Lounge is situated on the first floor and is a relaxing environment with drinks and snacks served by a friendly waiter.

Meals are taken in the new LS1 restaurant which feels and looks like a standalone restaurant.

Starters include Black Pudding Scotch Egg and Crab Cakes amongst others.

My Dinkie Pork Pie served with mushy peas and vinegar was probably very fattening but very enjoyable.

My partner's potted shrimp was a large serving.

My main of 10oz British Ribeye Steak was cooked to my liking but I thought that the blue cheese sauce, which is an extra, tasted a little bland and could have done with more bite.

For her main my partner chose the Pan Seared Bream Fillet which was said to be cooked to perfection.

Desserts of Lemon Drizzle Cheesecake and Sticky Toffee and Roasted Nut Pudding rounded off an enjoyable meal.

After all this food you could work it off in the leisure club that has a swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room too.

They even have a leaflet with suggested routes if you want to go for a jog from the hotel.

Breakfast is buffet style served in the LS1 restaurant, all the food was hot and delicious and constantly replenished.

It was first class just like the rest of this hotel.
