David Cotterill joins Rovers
Rovers' manager Dean Saunders made his second signing of the summer with experienced Welsh International midfielder David Cotterill joining the squad on a two year deal.

Dean knows David from his time with the Welsh squad, where he made 19 appearances in the red of Wales making his debut in October 2005. He also played at Under 19 and 21 levels for his country.

The 5' 9" winger was born in Cardiff but started his career across the Bristol Channel at Bristol City where he made 62 appearances and scored 8 goals before joining Wigan for £2 million in 2006. He made 18 appearances for Wigan in the Premier League.

In 2008 he went to Sheffield United on loan to get more match action playing 16 games during the 2007-08 Season. He signed permanently for United the following season for undisclosed fee and went on to make 38 appearances for the Bramall Lane side.

In 2009 David joined Swansea City on loan before signing for them fully in 2010 and made 39 appearances in the Championship before a 15 game loan spell at Portsmouth in 2011. He stayed at Portsmouth until the end of the 2010-11 season.

He was released by mutual consent from Swansea in January 2012 before joining Barnsley in February 2012 making 6 appearances and scoring one goal for the Tykes in the Championship.
