Deee-Lite - World Clique
Graham Clark, Features Writer
Originally released back in the early 90's this album from New York 3 piece, Deee-Lite has been re issued as a 2 disc CD. The first CD is the original album whilst the second one has all the remixes of the tracks.

In a way the group were the fore runners for acts like The Black Eyed Peas. The big hit from Deee-Lite was Groove is in the Heart, included here.

Review: Caro Emerald - Harrogate
Their music was a melting of funk, soul and hip hop which can be heard on the first two tracks, Deee-Lite theme and Good Beat which recalls the house music days of the early 90's that was typical of the period.

Power of Love is akin to the rest of the album with its funky guitar licks and disco beats. Although it may be over 20 odd years old it does not sound too dated. Production wise if you think of Madonna around her Vogue period you will be thinking along the right side of things.

There are some slower tracks too such as Smile On which shows a different side to the act.

The album closes with the instrumental, Build the Bridge. Worth checking out again.

I give the album 3 out of 5.
