George Michael never toured too much when he was alive and opportunities to see him in concert were never plentiful.
This tribute show though comes pretty close to what a George Michael gig was like. From seeing him at Leeds University in Wham's! First tour to when the duo decided to call it quits with a concert at Wembley Stadium in 1986 right through to the Sinfonia tour at Sheffield Arena he changed so much from young rebel to a soulful singer.
This show concentrates heavily on his solo career during the first half of the concert. There are 4 well rehearsed dancers on some of the songs but to my mind Michael never had any dancers on stage with him.
Saxophonist Ed Barker however did appear on stage with George Michael on the Sinfonia tour and having him on the Fastlove show adds a piece of authenticity to the production. Appearing on the track Cowboys and Indians his sax brought a dramatic edge to the song making it shine.

The dancers replicate the dance routine to Bad Boys perfectly and even wear the Choose Life T Shirts that were worn on the video to Wake Me Up Before You GoGo when they danced to the song.
Club Tropicana was a highlight that uplifted the audience after an interval that seemed to over run to over 30 minutes, which seemed way too long.
All was soon forgiven as the night ended on a high with Edge of Heaven, Last Christmas and of course, Wake Me Up Before You GoGo.
If you never got to see George Michael Fastlove comes very close to the real thing.
