Former Deputy PM Quizzed By Hallam Politics Students
Politics students from Sheffield Hallam University have taken the opportunity to question former Deputy Prime Minster Nick Clegg on his time in Government, Brexit and the future of politics.

The Rt Hon Nick Clegg, the MP for the Sheffield Hallam constituency, was the special guest at an event organised to celebrate the achievement of politics students in their final semester before graduation at Sheffield Hallam University.

Talking to Sheffield Hallam's head of politics Dr Andy Price, Mr Clegg offered an honest account of his party's rise in the 2010 general election, through his challenging years as Deputy Prime Minister, to defeat in 2015.

The former Liberal Democrat leader also spoke candidly about Brexit, tuition fees and compromise in politics, before taking questions from the students.

Mr Clegg, who is currently the Liberal Democrat Europe spokesperson, relayed his experiences through his new book Politics: Between the Extremes.

Dr Price said:
"It was a really thought-provoking talk with the former Deputy Prime Minister - and I believe he surprised some of our students with how open he was.

"The event was a great opportunity for our final year students to seek genuine insight from a politician who has been at the front-line of modern politics - and perhaps even provided some inspiration as they undertake their dissertations.

"Mr Clegg's current role for the Liberal Democrats as Europe spokesperson also prompted discussions about what the UK can expect in the coming years in relation to Brexit and ask some really challenging questions about the current state of politics."
