Formula 3 For Giggleswick Pupil
Cutter in action
Giggleswick School's rising motorsport star Sasakorn ‘Cutter' Chaimongkol is already turning heads as he prepares to contest the British Formula 3 series starting over the Easter weekend.

Cutter, 18, who is in the upper sixth, recently took part in a gale force rain-lashed two-day test drive at Anglesey in Wales in front of Hillspeed Racing team owner, Richard Ollerenshaw, who was full of praise for the young Thai.

Richard said: "It was an extraordinary performance, truly remarkable. He was last in our car at Snetterton in October 2016. He impressed us then but his performance this time demonstrated a maturity and calculated approach which has allowed him to take this 240bhp, physically demanding race car and return times within a second of what we would expect in warm summer weather."

Cutter, from Bangkok, who came to Formula 3 via a background in karting and Formula 4, drove the Cosworth powered Tatuus as preparation for the forthcoming British F3 series.

Cutter said: "It was fantastic, tiring but very exciting. I am so pleased to have recorded lap times which are competitive and put me in with a real chance of making a mark in this very demanding series. I know I can do this and make my long time supporter, Sichart Ratanarat and my country very proud."

A pupil at Giggleswick School since 2012, Cutter will take part in 24 races over eight events in the British F3 championships. The first meeting is at Oulton Park over the Easter weekend, where Cutter is aiming for pole position. Over the series he will drive at Grand Prix tracks including Silverstone and Spa Francorchamps as well as famous circuits such as Brands Hatch and Donington Park.

The school has supported Cutter's driving ambitions over the years. Headmaster Mark Turnbull: "We are sure that Cutter has a bright future in motorsport and we look forward to following his progress with pride."
