Holiday Dreams Cheaper In Yorkshire!
Map showing the salary % people would budget for a dream holiday
It has been said that a Yorkshireman is a Scotsman with his generosity removed! Well, according to a new survey, it would appear there is some truth in the statement when it comes to buying holiday ‘dreams’.

A recent survey asked 1,000 people across Britain how much of their weekly wage they’d be prepared to spend on a dream vacation, and then compared this to new weekly earnings data from the Office of National Statistics.

According to the results Brit’s budget an average of £946 per person for a week-long dream holiday, equating to almost twice the UK average weekly income (excluding bonus’) of £488.

Scots were the most generous to themselves, splashing out an average 56% of their monthly income (£1,191) on a dream holiday, compared to Tykes who came in at sixth place after London and the North East, promising to allocate just 45% of their monthly income (£956).

However, whilst holiday dreams were cheaper to buy in Yorkshire, people in the South West were only prepared to splash out 34% of their monthly income confirming, officially, that holiday dreams should always be purchased further south!

In response to their findings Chirac Shah, online marketing manager at Villa Plus, said:
“Our findings show that the public is looking to enjoy their dream holidays to the fullest. By budgeting such a large portion of their monthly salary to enjoy a dream holiday, it’s clear that this time is valuable to them and dream holidays are an investment and reward rather than an expense”.
