In The Mood With Glenn Miller
Andrew Liddle, Features Writer
Glenn Miller Orchestra
The new year may well be peaking too soon in Hull, with Ray McVay bringing his Glenn Miller Orchestra to the City Hall, on Saturday, 6 January.

Back in the 1940s Miller’s band, with hits like In the Mood, A String of Pearls and Tuxedo Junction, was the most popular in the swingdom.

The Cask Is Set To Swing
Amazingly, it’s still going strong thanks to the vision and determination of one man. Ray has been leading the British version of the great American Swing band for almost half a lifetime now, having been motivated back in the late-80s by a desire to get much closer to the unique sound than others were doing.

By common consent, by using authentic orchestrations and handpicked musicians, he succeeded brilliantly. Thirty years on and he’s still touring, appealing to an ever-wider audience as young generations awaken to the appeal of foot-tapping rhythm and thrilling harmony, played with full-bodied ease by a sophisticated orchestra, the Glenn Miller way.

Not surprisingly the concert has sold out.
