Leeds McGuiness Interview
Thomas Feaheny, Boxing Correspondent
Nigel McGuinness co-host of the WWE United Kingdom Championship
Ahead of WWE NXT making a first appearance in Leeds, commentator Nigel McGuiness says the UK talent deserves their chance to perform in their home country.

McGuiness says the UK talent deserves their chance to succeed:

"Some of these guys, like Pete Dunne has been there and done it already, this isn't their first rodeo, we are seeing them rewarded, I couldn't be prouder of them, I've been there going to small venues, wondering if they will get paid off and it has worked for them all."

The Englishman who now holds the out of ring role says he can't wait for the shows:

"Leeds are in for a treat, I know the show will sell out alongside the other venues, this is a big deal for the talent knowing they are coming here, to big venues and plenty of people will see the future, it's great to see so many UK arenas get to stage more and more wrestling."

McGuiness who was in Ring of Honour before retired a few years ago after being medically unable to compete, he spoke about if he misses being in the ring:

"There are moments I miss being an in-ring performer, I had a very brief time in a WWE ring a long time, but I can do commentary for a very long time, I am enjoying it and feel I am growing as a performer."

Finally McGuiness revealed he would not rule out aiming to be a commentator on Raw or Smackdown:

"I'd be open to anything, in WWE you are given chances, if you respond well, you are given more opportunities, I will just keep doing my thing and see what happens."

The NXT Leeds event takes place at the First Direct Arena on 7th June.
