Manahatta, Headingley

Manahatta say that they serve pizzas, burgers, hot dogs and salads in a trendy all day bar/restaurant with colourful funky decor. It is a very good description of this the third Manahatta in Leeds.

This one though is in Headingley and being in a student area they appear to have already found a loyal following. On a Sunday after 6pm and all day on Tuesday all food is half price.

I didn't expect the service to be as good as it was, it was not just our table either, everyone received a very high level of service. They have got some good staff who seem to be very experienced and it shows.

There is an open kitchen so you can see the food being prepared in this homely atmosphere.

We chose the BBQ Chicken Nachos to share for a starter, priced at £6.95 - a good combination of spicy crisp coated chicken that was served piping hot. That's another thing I liked about the place, how many times do you get food that is served lukewarm?

Everything was served freshly cooked and piping hot.

Ultimate Bacon Burger
Ultimate Bacon Burger
I tried the Ultimate Bacon Burger priced at £10.50 for my main. The burger was meaty and just the right side of chewy too so that the meat got in between your teeth. Served with a big portion of chips, it tasted fresh and appetising.

My sister decided upon the Portobello Pizza priced at £7.95; plenty of fresh mushrooms, it tasted like an authentic Italian pizza. Good base, filling right up to the sides too.

Red Velvet Doughnut

The dessert menu is limited to just three choices. The rather sweet Red Velvet Doughnut served with ice cream and squirty cream was the type of indulgent dish you only eat once in a blue moon, but it was very good!

Banofee Waffle

My sister went for the Banofee Waffle which was such a large serving that she couldn't finish it all. It was said to be perfect!

Good to see that when they serve coffee a biscuit is on the side too.

If you fancy a game of Shuffleboard then it is half price on Monday nights and on Sundays from 12-6pm. You might need a bit of exercise after all that tasty food.
