Conveniently located off the next Junction after the turn off for Manchester Airport, the Marriott Hotel has recently refurbished all its Executive rooms.

They are brighter and now also come with free Wi Fi. The beds are better, the bathrooms have been refurbished and now come with rain showers. The TV in the room has a larger screen than previously.

You can feel the difference and the rooms are just what you need for a relaxing night before your flight the next day. A great start to any business or holiday trip.

The hotel itself takes a while to find yourself around due to its configuration, but thankfully the refurbished Executive Rooms are located together and are easy to find.

One of the advantages too, if staying in one of the new rooms is that you get access to the Executive Lounge, where there is a hot meal in the buffet area. When we stayed it was Chicken and Mushrooms with rice along with Onion Bhajis, Pakoras, sweet biscuits, cheese and biscuits and fresh fruit, together with wines, beers, soft drinks, water, tea and coffee.

You can have breakfast in the Executive Lounge too, but we chose to eat in the larger main restaurant where there was a wider choice of food on offer.

If you arrive in the evening a good dining option is the stand alone Italian restaurant on site. There is also a fully equipped leisure club with an excellent gym and swimming pool.

The airport is under 10 minutes away and a preferential rate is available for a taxi service that can be booked via reception. There is ample car parking at the hotel so no problem about leaving your car whilst you are away.

If you have travelled to Manchester airport via the M60 recently you will know that the Northern and Western parts have a 50mph speed limit on whilst they upgrade the M60 to a SMART Motorway.

During rush hour this journey can be horrendous as there always seems to be a crash and hold ups so now I always try to stay over and not miss my flight. After nearly missing our flight once it was an experience that I did not wish to repeat again.

A friendly welcome, good food and now the excellent refurbished Executive rooms make this hotel a good choice.
