Matt Bianco Travel North At Last

Matt Bianco's live appearances in the north are rarer than a total eclipse these days - the soulful jazz outfit have appeared reluctant to travel north of the M25 until now.

With anticipation running high things were looking good until it was announced by singer Mark Reilly that his vocal chords were suffering and he would be unable to sing.

All was not lost as backing vocalist Elisabeth Troy took centre stage to perform vocal duties for the night. She has sung on many dance tracks and performed with Clean Bandit too, so all was in good hands. With a talented band in tow things went with a bang.

Songs such as Half A Minute and Whose Side Are You On were sung with Basia when she was in Matt Bianco so they didn't sound too different when sung live by Ms Troy.

It was not all about the past though as tracks off the new album such as Invisible and Gravity were performed which showed that there is still plenty of mileage left in the The Matt Bianco groove.

The audience took over the chorus of Yeh Yeh whilst closing track Get Out Of Your Lazy Bed reminded everyone of a classic period in pop music.

It could have all turned out wrong but tonight you couldn't Blame It On That Girl as Miss Troy saved the day.
