Pie and Mash Anyone?
Master Baker Kelvin (L) with his famous homemade pies!
What a brilliant idea to open a Pie and Mash shop in the historic market town of Skipton, North Yorkshire. News of the opening soon travelled to the Yorkshire Times and we headed down to take a closer look. From the outside a lovely Yorkshire Dales cafe, but from the inside a nautically themed traditional London Pie & Mash shop.

The shop was doing a brisk trade on it's first day with customers choosing from a variety of wonderfully fresh homemade meat and vegetarian pies, accompanied by the traditional mash, gravy and liquor.

The grand opening will take place on Easter Sunday (8th April) at 11.30am, when the White Knights will be visiting the shop on their bikes to raise money for this vital service. The White Knights are a charity who provide an emergency motorcycle service, biking blood from hospitals to emergency situations.

"It's going to be a great event" said Kelvin, master pie baker at the shop "I'll be very busy baking, because we will be giving away 500 pies to encourage people to come along and support this worthwhile charity."

The concept of a Pie and Mash shop was the brainchild of London born Nick Osborn who now lives in Yorkshire and also owns Pennine Boat Trips.

"What better way of finishing off a cruise down the Leeds Liverpool Canal on one of our traditional canal boats that by stopping in at the Pie and Mash shop for a pie and a pint" said Nick "Visitors can have the London pie and mash experience right here in the Yorkshire Dales."
