Pizza Express Launch New Autumn Menu With Vegetarian Options

There is nothing better than visiting a warm cosy restaurant on a night time when it is freezing outside. Such was the evening when we visited Pizza Express at Albion Place in Leeds to try out the new vegetarian menu,. Mind you, I like my meat so my sister who is vegetarian came along to give her verdict.

The restaurant was busy for a Sunday evening and it felt like you were somewhere exciting yet with a warm atmosphere. This particular restaurant has a playing card theme so there are playing cards marking the toilet doors - you are either a King or a Queen. Thankfully the meal itself wasn't a joker.

They seem to have cottoned on to the fact that there are a lot of vegetarians out there who want something more imaginative than your normal offerings. So you can expect Vegan Giardiniera, Vegan Margherita pizza, Padana and even Leggara Coconut Sorbet on the dessert menu.

Vegan Dough Balls

The Vegan Dough Balls for starters were as light as puffy clouds but had a real taste to them. I chose the normal garlic bread which seemed a little too greasy for me.

Leggera Vegan Giardiniera

My sister decided upon the Leggera Vegan Giardiniera which is a pizza with a topping of Artichokes, closed cup mushroom, red onion and black olives with tomato, vegan mozzarella alternative and garlic oil finished with fresh parsley. Priced at £11.95 it apparently tasted as good as it looked though it was a tad greasy.

Ragu pizza

I decided upon the Ragu pizza from the new autumn menu - every mouthful was a different taste, it was highly satisfying with its mix of rich bolognese sauce, red onion, ricotta, tomato, rosemary and fennel seeds. I wonder how they come up with these mixtures? It definitely worked.

The new Carrot Cake on the vegan menu was tasty but very compact in size. Moist and with a real kick it might seem pricey at £5.50.

I tried the new Raspberry Honeycomb Cream Slice which had a perfect crisp base and a very sweet topping.
