Prezzo - The Light, Leeds
Graham Clark, Features Writer
If you have visited The Light in Leeds you will know that there are many dining options within the complex.
With several pizza restaurants within several feet of each other it was interesting to see that Prezzo was one of the busiest.
The lighting in the restaurant is just right for a casual dining experience and the lively yet cosy atmosphere added to the early evening Saturday night meal.
The menu is extensive and although it is Italian based it is not all about pizza and pasta. The prawns for example seemed to be very popular and well received.
We chose to share our starter of Four Flatbreads. This is a meal in itself, the four flatbreads include pulled pork and mozzarella, mini bruschetta, prosciutto with mozzarella and tomato and concluded with mini pane con cipolla. A delicious start and something we would not hesitate to choose again.
I went for one of their Executive Pizzas. It was very much like a long rectangular flatbread. My Posh Pepperoni was topped with salami milano and calabrese sausage. It is a big pizza to eat by yourself and I would say that you might be better sharing one of these moreish pizzas. A rare treat indeed.
My partner went for the Penne Alla Rusticana. This meaty dish of seasoned chicken, pancetta, peppers and rosemary in a creamy pomodoro sauce looked delicious. The view was that the pasta was cooked to perfection although the sauce was felt to be too salty. Apparently the sauce comes this way and no salt is added in the restaurant. Other diners who had the pasta we spoke to also commented that they thought it tasted too salty.
It is rare to get salad that is freshly prepared. Prezzo was no different in that respect as the side salad looked and tasted like it had been prepared in the morning, as the lettuce leaves were limp and the peppers rubbery.

The service was excellent: attentive and efficient. It was pleasing to see the multi national staff work together as a team. All diners appeared to be served with a friendly and attentive attitude.
An extensive wine list compliments a menu with something for everyone - vegetarians included.
It felt like you had been for a proper meal in this well run restaurant.
