Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport

Radisson blu Manchester Airport
Radisson blu Manchester Airport
Travelling to Manchester Airport via the M62 can be very stressful especially if you have to travel at peak times during the week.

So after 2 journeys when we literally were checked in and fast tracked through security and the plane took off, I decided that rather than encounter hold ups on the motorway caused either by heavy traffic or an accident there must be a better alternative.

There is - there is nothing better than waking up in the morning after a good night's sleep, pulling back the curtains and seeing the airport runway directly in front of you, as you do when staying at the Radisson Blu.

The hotel is on site at the airport and is connected by a walkway to all three terminals, with each one being no further than 7-10 minutes walking distance from the check-in desks.

Check in was fast, personal, friendly and efficient. The whole hotel seems to have an air of professionalism.

Our room overlooked the airport: if you like watching the planes come and go you would not have a better view. You might be thinking now what about the noise? Well, the rooms are so insulated that you do not hear any aircraft noise.

The room was well appointed with a comfy bed, the free Wi Fi was very fast, the TV had all the channels you could need and the free safe was an added bonus. The bathroom had all the toiletries that you could wish for too.

I would suggest that you include access to the Business Class Lounge on the 9th floor as this light, spacious and airy room gives 180 degrees panoramic views of the airport and the runways.

Drinks are included in the price with evening canapés being served from 5pm to 7.30pm. The spring rolls were delicious although I thought it might be a good idea to have some sweet options served besides the savoury ones. Service was discreet yet attentive. It felt like you were somewhere special and unique and truth told, you were.

You can take breakfast in the lounge too from 7am, but as we had an early flight we just made the Super Buffet Breakfast which was a huge feast.
Unfortunately we did not have time to do it justice, but there is everything on the buffet from the traditional English breakfast to cheeses, hams and fresh salmon in the continental section.

A Grab n Run option is available from 3.30am to 6am which is basically coffee and pastries, but ideal if you have a really early flight.

There is also a restaurant on site for an evening meal but I liked the Little M bar which is inspired by all the music that has come out of Manchester: the walls have records and posters of Manchester acts like The Smiths, Oasis and The Stone Roses amongst others.

Some thought has been given too to the Cocktails: they have all been named after the songs or acts so you could have a Happy Monday or even a Sally Cinnamon (as in the Stone Roses song)

If you have time you could also use the facilities at the Pace Health Club which includes a 12 metre swimming pool as well as a gym.

With consistently good service, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, an ideal location, good parking and accessibility to the motorway network, it all adds up to a perfect way to start our holiday and we made our flight well on time relaxed, refreshed and in good spirits.
