Red Dog Saloon Branch Out Up North

Inside Red Dog Saloon
Inside Red Dog Saloon
Already opened in London and now branching out to the north of England, Red Dog Saloon is the latest of the themed styled bars/restaurants that specialise in barbecued meals, southern fried chicken and burgers.

The style of the restaurant does indeed look like a saloon and if you have ever eaten at the Buffalo Grill chain in France it does remind me of that, decor wise.

There are lots of old photos of America on the walls that give it an authentic feeling. The music playing ranged from Al Green to Sam and Dave. They have a small stage that is used for music nights too.

On a freezing winters night it was good to find the restaurant very warm.

Nachos
Nachos
The shared starter of Nachos served with smoked brisket and pork shoulder, chilli, extra strong cheddar, onion, sour cream and chipotle was nicely presented and tasted as good as it looked.

Double bacon cheeseburger
Double bacon cheeseburger
I went for the Double Bacon cheeseburger for my main. It came with 4 beef patties and smelt and tasted very meaty, although I could taste a high salt content for some reason. Priced at £12.50 it seemed a comparable price to what other places like this charge. My Pulled Pork fries at £6.75 served with Barbecue sauce added to a very filling meal. If you like burgers this is the one for you.

Half-chicken
Half-chicken
My partner chose the half chicken which cost £15.50 and included 2 sides; the chicken was not dry and very tender.

Mississipi Ice cream cake

For desserts my Ice Cream Sundae was served on a dish and was satisfying, whilst my partner's Mississippi Ice Cream Cake served with fresh cream was a big serving and unlike anything else on offer amongst their competitors.
