Review: Nico And Vinz/Usher - Sheffield Arena

Nico and Vinz
Nico and Vinz
Nico and Vinz had a huge European hit last summer with Am I Wrong. Although born and raised in Norway the band have strong African backgrounds.

They seemed a perfect act to open up the gig for Usher. The duo worked hard to warm up the audience, they had 3 dancers with them although the duo themselves are good dancers as well as vocalists. They even had a dance off with their dancers to decide on who was the best dancer!

They have some good tracks such as In Your Arms and When the Day Comes but it was their worldwide hit, Am I Wrong, that they saved until the end of their set. The cold east wind might have been blowing outside but inside the arena they brought some warm summer vibes to Sheffield.

Usher
Usher
It is over 4 years since Usher toured the UK so his current UK tour was highly anticipated. He had an extensive band that included a brilliant horn section.

The gig was split between the different parts of his career with the early tracks such as Nice and Slow and U Remind Me coming on early in the set.

He appears playing a set of gold coloured drums to perform Good Kisser, his hit from last summer: the track showed a different side to Usher with the track having a jazz influence.

He is certainly talented as he can play, sing and dance which were all showcased throughout the gig.

It was his big European hits that closed the gig with DJ Got Us Falllin I Love. Yeah! and Without You closing a set that had lasted over 2 hours but seemed like minutes. A spectacular gig that is summed up in the titles of one of his tracks he sang tonight: Superstar.
