Silence Is Golden For Candlelighters
The 16th Airedale Innes Cub Pack
The 16th Airedale Innes Cub Pack based in Yeadon held a sponsored silence as part of the Central Yorkshire Youth Commissioners Challenge. 29 Cubs were involved in the sponsored silence and between then the pack raised a magnificent £580.00.

Rebecca Swithenbank, Community Fundraiser at Candlelighters visited the pack to receive the cheque and give a presentation, informing the cubs of how the money they have raised is going to support children and families in their local area throughout their childhood cancer journey.

Rebecca said: “16th Airedale Innes Cub Pack were so enthusiastic about their fundraising, not only to earn the Central Yorkshire Youth Commissioners Challenge Badge, but to also support children their own age. The amount they have raised is fantastic, we really appreciate it and from everyone here at Candlelighters we want to say a massive Thank You to the cubs and leaders, but also to the families and friends who sponsored them.”

If you’d like to get involved with fundraising for Candlelighters, please email info@candlelighters.org.uk call them on 0113 3229283 or visit www.candlelighters.org.uk

About Candlelighters

Established in 1976, Candlelighters is a children’s charity dedicated to combating childhood cancer, leukaemia and serious blood disorders.
The charity supports children and families from all over Yorkshire.
Each year, in Yorkshire alone, around 150 children are diagnosed with some form of cancer.
In February 2015, they opened The Square, a support centre for families who are being or have been affected by childhood cancer.
The charity invests around half a million pounds each year into research.
Candlelighters invests in the wards at the Leeds General Infirmary by funding posts and equipment.
The charity offers family support in many forms, from practical financial support for families and funded holidays, to talking therapies, wellbeing treatments and support groups for siblings.
In order to sustain their services, Candlelighters needs to raise £1.5m every year.
