Steel Yourself for Saga Luxury!

A steel cutting ceremony has been held to mark the start of construction work on Saga Cruises’ second bespoke-built boutique ship, The Spirit of Adventure.

The event took place this week at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The 999-guest vessel is due to start sailing from Dover in August next year.

Chief Operating Officer for Saga Cruises, Nigel Blanks said:
“This marks a special moment in Saga Cruises’ history – the first steel cutting of Saga’s second purpose built cruise ship. The first new build ship, Spirit of Discovery is due to launch this July.

“Built by the same expert team at the Meyer Werft shipyard, The Spirit of Adventure is a beautiful sister ship to Spirit of Discovery. With her striking design, distinctive new venues and innovative speciality restaurants, she will certainly have a unique personality and fulfil our promise of boutique luxury, perfectly! “

The new ship’s contemporary look is being masterminded by top British design agency AD Associates and the vessel, weighing in at 58,250 gross tonnes and measuring 774.3ft in length, will carry 999 guests and 505 crew members. She will sail from Dover next summer with itineraries featuring the Norwegian Fjords, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
