Tanika Charles - Soul Run
Graham Clark, Features Writer
BBC 6 Music DJ and soul fan, Craig Charles is already on the case with this soulful singer.

Her touring career has seen her support Estelle, Mayer Hawthorne, Macy's Gray and Lauren Hill.

To me she sounds like a cross between Aretha Franklyn mixed with Lauren Hill.

Also by Graham Clark...
Beauty And The Beast, Theatre Royal, Nottingham
Roy Wood Rock N Roll Band, Royal Hall, Harrogate
Slade To Visit Hull And Manchester
Brand New Heavies, Manchester Academy
The Charlatans, O2 Academy, Leeds
The intro to the album sounds like it has come off a Lauren Hill album whilst Soul Run and Two Steps have a mid 70's production, but with her soulful voice shining through.

If you like Emeli Sande this album will appeal to you. My favourite track is Sweet Memories, a joyful affair which shows off her singing capabilities to the full.

Most of the songs are co-written but the closing one Darkness and the Dawn she wrote herself and is about a heart breaking relationship that she experienced.

A good introduction to this emerging artist.

I give the album 3 out of 5.
