The Great Get Together 2017 - In Honour Of Jo Cox MP
Just one year ago, on Thursday 16th June 2016, a senseless, meaningless and brutal act ended the life of Jo Cox MP.
Jo famously said in her maiden speech to the House of Commons that "we are far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us". That spirit and her boundless energy are to be remembered in many different ways across the country over the next three days.
Collectively entitled The Great Get Together, these events are for the "groundswell of people who reject divisive politics and simply want to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us", according to the Jo Cox Foundation.
Hundreds of organisations have already become involved in the day - from Help for Heroes to Amnesty International; the RNLI to the RSPB; the Scouts, the Guides, The Women's Institute and The Premier League; sports clubs, theatres and many, many businesses.
