The Purple Poppy Project With Little Alf In Aid Of Brooke
Hannah Russell, Features Writer
Little Alf and I have had a very exciting week, as we’ve been working on a special project called ‘The Purple Poppy Project’ since January 2018 and last week we got to reveal what we had been up to...

At the start of this year me and Little Alf became Brooke ‘Every Horse Remembered’ Ambassadors, which is a campaign marking 100 years since the end of world war one and is about raising awareness for the millions of horses, donkeys and mules that gave their lives in the war as well as the millions of equines that still work around the world today.

As our role as ambassadors we are highlighting the heroic struggle of working horses past and present.

Little Alf’s Memoir To Be Published In German
Keeping Cool In The Sunshine
Through our new roles as ambassadors Alfie and I have been keen to get involved where we can and at the start of the year we came up with the idea of creating a design which could be put on clothing and merchandise to remember the horses that lost their lives.

When I first thought of the idea I wasn’t sure what response it would get, but now a week after launching the new clothing I am really pleased as the response has been amazing.

I already have a selection of Little Alf clothing which Alfie fans can buy as merchandise and in the past that has sold really well. I’m really happy that I’ve created something so special to help Brooke.

The design on the clothing is Little Alf holding a purple poppy, which symbolises the animals that lost their lives in the war.

The design can be found on mens, womens and childrens clothing as well as a small selection of merchandise with 20% of every sale going back to Brooke Action for working horses and donkeys.

Caroline Robertson, Senior Regional Fundraising Officer, Brooke said:

“The Little Alf Purple Poppy clothing collection is too cute for words! Brooke is delighted to have been chosen as the benefitting charity of this extra special range of clothing and to receive 20% of all purchases. We are extremely grateful to Hannah Russell and Little Alf for their very kind and generous donation. I would urge everyone to purchase an item or two!

"This support will help Brooke reach many more hardworking horses, donkeys and mules and the people that depend on them for their livelihood in some of the world’s poorest communities. Thank you and good luck with the launch of the clothing range”.
