Travelodge Harrogate West Park

Breakfast to rival Premier Inn!
Breakfast to rival Premier Inn!
The UK budget hotel expansion of the major chains seems to show no pace of slowing down.

Travelodge already has one property located in Harrogate but have recently added another hotel to complement the older one in the town.

The official name of the hotel is Travelodge West Park but it is actually located just off West Park on Tower Street. There is no car park that belongs to the hotel but there is a multi story car park adjacent to the hotel and also a pay and display surface car park opposite the hotel. The centre of the town is about 5 to 8 minutes away from the hotel if on foot, ditto the train station.

First impressions on arrival were good. We were greeted in a friendly manner by the female receptionist who informed us about meal times at the hotel and asked that if we wanted to know anything about the town or where to visit, she would try to help.

They have designated the top floor of the hotel as the Business Level, what this means in effect is that from Monday to Thursday all business guests are given rooms on the top floor where noise is kept to a minimum. We stayed at the weekend but were given a room on this floor. All the rooms whichever floor you stay on though, appear identical.

A good nights sleep was had!
A good nights sleep was had!
The room was warm and functional with the new king size sleepeezee beds with 4 soft pillows. The room appeared very clean until my partner found an empty pop bottle under the bed, that had been left behind by a previous guest. Apart from this anomaly that had not been picked up by the cleaner, everything else in the room was fine. A large Samsung TV with all the Freeview channels meant you never missed any of your favourite TV programmes. Tea and coffee making facilities come as standard.

The bathroom had a good shower with plenty of hot water and a good sized mirror. A good nights sleep was had.

Breakfast has been improved too. The impression is that the chain are trying to up their game to rival Premier Inn. For £7.95 you can help yourself to an unlimited cooked breakfast with tea and coffee included. Great value if you can eat a lot. For lighter appetites there is the new Unlimited Lighter Breakfast for £5.75 which is more like a continental breakfast with fruit salad, croissants, yoghurts, toast etc. Most guests seemed to be having the full breakfast which sets you up for the day.

If you are visiting the town for a shopping trip and fancy staying over or on a business trip to the town and do not want to pay high prices then I would definitely recommend this new addition to Harrogate's hotel landscape.
