Jan Harris, Assistant Editor
We've all been there - the old year has come to an end and a new year begins so it is the time to make a New Year's resolution.
Some popular New Year's resolutions:
Lose weight or go on a diet
Stop eating junk food and eat healthily
Do more exercise or join a gym
Stop spending too much
Give up smoking
Cut down or give up alcohol

They used to make promises to the gods at the start of a new year in order to win their favour. They would return borrowed objects and pay off debts.
The reason why most people fail with their New Year's resolution is that an unrealistic goal is set.
So why don't you this year make a realistic resolution that you can stick to and not make one that you can't live up to.
What about considering volunteering or supporting a charity instead of trying to give something up.

So let's step into 2018 and make each and every day count whatever you decide to do.
Happy New Year everyone!
