Andrew Pliener
Andrew Pliener
Andrew Pliener is a Partner in the Built Environment Team at law firm Ward Hadaway. Based in their Leeds office, he is responsible for advising and providing legal advice to clients in all aspects of property development.

He has handled a range of transactions with clients for residential developments ranging from small sites with only a couple of units to large-scale developments with over 1000 units.

Andrew is the latest regional business professional in the hot seat as The Yorkshire, Lancashire & Cumbria Times gives him just 10 minutes to answer our 10 burning questions.

What does a typical working day for you involve?

At the moment, a typical day is somewhat different with my daily commute to the office (which my wife still calls ‘the dining room’) taking no time at all.
Longer working days with more interruptions (Amazon and other deliveries) seem to be the norm.

What makes your company special?

That's easy, the people!

Do you have any business rules that you swear by?

Work hard and treat everyone as I would want them to treat me.

Do you dress up or down for work?

We have a ‘dress suitably’ policy and so generally fairly casual attire

What piece of advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

Make the most of life.

What’s your favourite Yorkshire venue for an event or team away day?

I’d have to say Grassington and the Yorkshire Dales

How do you prefer to travel for business?

If it was just local, I would usually drive but I use the train for meetings further away.

What’s your favourite place in Yorkshire to relax?

My home – which is useful given I am spending far more time there than usual – although it can be a bit hectic when all six kids are back home (when allowed)…not to mention the cat and the dog!

Where is your favourite place to eat in Yorkshire, and what dish do you recommend?

Betty's Team Room of course! Anything sweet!

What do you miss most about Yorkshire when you’re away?

My family if they don’t come with me but if they do, I’d have to say my cat!
