Apprentice Graduation
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have celebrated 33 of their apprentices graduating from the UK’s largest tour operator and third-largest airline’s apprenticeship scheme at a special graduation ceremony.
The graduation ceremony, which took place at The Queens Hotel in Leeds, saw 33 apprentices from across Engineering, Finance, Ground Operations, IT, Marketing and Operations Control mark the successful completion of their apprenticeships.
After celebrating their first cohort of apprentices in 2022, the ceremony marked the second graduation Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have held for their apprentices, with the exciting event becoming an annual celebration as the companies’ apprenticeship programme continues to grow.
The apprentices graduating this year have soared through their apprenticeships and have now proudly secured permanent positions with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, since passing their assessments first time. Many colleagues proudly gained distinctions for their exceptional submissions, including the entire cohort of Level 3 Team Leader apprentices.
To recognise their achievements, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, Steve Heapy, presented each of the high-flying apprentices with their certificates. Also in attendance were the apprentices’ families, training providers, colleagues and mentors.
In addition, the ceremony included speeches from Steve Heapy and Miriam D’souli, HR Director of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, to acknowledge the hard work of the apprentices. Graduates Connor Ward and Joeseph Duranti also shared their personal experiences of completing an apprenticeship.
Miriam D’souli, HR Director at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said:
“We are delighted to see 33 of our apprentices mark the important career milestone of graduating from our apprenticeship scheme. The apprentices should be extremely proud of their achievements, with the graduation ceremony celebrating the many years of hard work and dedication demonstrated by everyone.
“We would like to congratulate the apprentices on their achievements and look forward to seeing them continue their professional careers at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays. A special mention should be made to Connor Ward, who we are incredibly proud of, for winning the Yorkshire and Humber Apprenticeship Awards 2023 and qualifying as a finalist in the National Apprenticeship Awards. Watching our apprentices develop over the course of their apprenticeships has been a pleasure, and I am confident that they each have a successful future ahead of them. Our apprentices are critical to the growth and success of our business and that is why we are continuing to grow our apprenticeship programme next year.”
The announcement follows Jet2holidays recently revealing a £500,000 Apprenticeship Fund to help independent travel agents develop their workforces, and the launch of its new Appoint an Apprentice scheme. The scheme will see the company provide up to £5,000 to fund the salaries of new apprentices working at independent travel agency partners in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays currently have over 150 apprentices on-programme in almost 35 different apprenticeship standards across the business in Finance, Engineering, HR, IT, Marketing, Operations Control, Health & Safety, Ground Operations, Contact Centre and Procurement, ranging from Level 2-7. The companies are continuing to expand their apprenticeship scheme in 2024.
