A Joint Statement By The North Yorkshire Police, Fire And Crime Commissioner Candidates

The following is a a joint Statement by the North Yorkshire police, fire and crime commissioner candidates:

As everyone knows, we are experiencing an unprecedented crisis with the coronavirus pandemic. This is putting a huge strain on the NHS, police, fire service and many other organisations, and we all need to help these dedicated people do their jobs as effectively and efficiently as they can in such difficult circumstances. Therefore, everyone must follow the Government's advice to stay at home whenever possible.

Whilst many people are observing the rules on social distancing, others have been acting irresponsibly by gathering in large crowds in public places. Equally, panic-buying in the shops puts vulnerable people at risk and also makes it difficult for our key workers to buy essential supplies. There have been far too many instances of older people, nurses, doctors and others being unable to get the food they need. This is completely unacceptable and has to stop now.

As candidates for the North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner elections in 2021, we are asking each and every one of you to play your part during this national emergency. It really will save lives. Thank you in anticipation for your support.
