A Little Bit Of Joy With Little Alf

The current times are frightening and worrying for everyone. We are unsure when things might return back to normal and what is going to happen in the next few weeks.

Little Alf and I have remained in isolation in our home in the Yorkshire Dales.

Alfie celebrated his 9th Birthday on the 1st April. He couldn’t have a party like initially planned with all his friends, but we could have fun ourselves and he had a great day playing football, eating carrots, cake baking and going for a walk around the village.

Both of us have been getting in our daily exercise walking up and down the village. The people around the village love to see Alfie getting his daily walk and he seems to brighten up their day.

We’ve been doing our bit by helping out the vulnerable in the current pandemic, by delivering free range eggs to those that can’t get to the shops. Alf has been helping me carry the basket around the village (we nearly had scrambled eggs at one point as he dropped the basket and appeared to have a cheeky grin on his face afterwards).

To the people we have delivered eggs to they have sent messages to say how lovely it is to see Alfie on his adventures. We have also been actively posting images of Alf’s activities on social media and it’s lovely to see how he can brighten up people's day.

I’ve always said if you can do something good with a following on social media then it is great to be used in the right way. Our purpose and Alf’s has always been to make people smile and help those out who need it the most.

Being an author I usually have months of school talks and events, which have been cancelled like all the events around the world. I have created an online Facebook group for little readers. This is for parents to join and get them involved in Little Alf activities.

During Alf’s spare time he has also been learning some new skills with his football. Those of you that know him will know he’s a football fan and loves playing in the fields!
