Becoming A Youth Ambassador
Hannah Russell, Features Writer
Last year Little Alf and I worked very closely with the Brooke Charity, a charity which helps the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules all over the world.

Over the last couple of years we have been involved with the charity with online campaigns, attending events and creating a clothing range especially for the charity to help raise funds.

Last year we took on the role of ambassadors for the ‘Every Horse Remembered’ campaign which was to mark 100 years since the end of the first world war. This was to raise awareness for the working equines which lost their lives. It was a brilliant role and great to see the campaign get a large response around the globe.

In December I attended a service in London where HRH the Duchess of Cornwall was present. She is president of the Brooke Charity so it was an honour to meet her and talk about Brooke.

During the event I received a special thank you award for recognition of helping the Brooke charity in 2018. I didn’t know I was getting anything so it was a lovely surprise.

After the event I had a meeting with the charity and was asked to be an ‘official’ ambassador for 2019. I was so overwhelmed and excited. Although it involved a lot of work I couldn’t say no and it’s great to be on board for 2019.

Through my role as an ambassador this year I will be focusing on ‘youth’ and help grow Brooke’s profile within schools and hopefully inspire more young people to engage with the charity's goals.

Little Alf’s Meet & Greet
Brooke works across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America and brings lasting change to the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules and supporting people in some of the world’s poorest communities.

Having supported the charity in the past I am so pleased to be taking on the role and bringing my two passions together, working with young people and helping animals.

I have lots of school and university talks lined up for 2019 so it will be great to talk about Brooke at the events.

I know Alf is just as pleased about being an ambassador and will be carrying out his role to help the charity with appearances and online campaigns... I think it’s really important to help charities and I’m so grateful to be able to work so closely with one I am passionate about.
