Bishop Auckland 2 v 4 North Ferriby FC: Northern Premier League East Division – 18/01/25

Football
In search of a third straight league victory and a second straight in the North-East, Chris Bolder’s Villagers battled once again to secure a further three points at the Vest Construction Stadium to cement their push for the playoffs.

As expected, a tensely contested fixture ensued that saw Kieron Ceesay, Josh Thacker and Jack Walters star and score to ensure The Villagers returned to East Yorkshire with the three points.

Underway in the North-East, Bishop Auckland took the initiative claiming the early battle and should have been ahead if it weren’t for a sound piece of goal-line defending.

Early Bishop Auckland pressure paid off in the seventeenth minute as the hosts opened the scoring through Sam Hodgson. A Ferriby response was warranted, and Kieron Ceesay obliged in the twentieth minute, slotting the ball under Jack Norton to level.

An under par opening half continued, and further pressure from the hosts saw them retake the lead with ten minutes of the half remaining.

After the break, the half time team talk from Chris Bolder paid dividends. Three minutes from the restart and Ferriby were back in it after Jack Walters nodded home from a Kieron Ceesay corner.
Ferriby continued their advances, and were deservingly ahead on fifty-two minutes after a superb solo goal from Kieron Ceesay beat Jack Norton at his near post. It would only take five minutes before Ferriby were at it again, with Josh Thacker firing home from a Dennison pass.

With the half passing the hour, all that remained for The Villagers was time and game management. Ferriby eagerly obliged and were able to contain a bewildered Bishop Auckland to claim another fantastic three points.

The Villagers remain in fifth place in the league standings.
