Can You Find The Hidden Star In 30 Seconds, During Peak Stargazing?
With another great weekend ahead for stargazing and the Northern Lights, Finnish gaming company SuomiCasino have devised this clever brainteaser to spot the four-sided star within the sky - only eagle-eyed individuals can identify it within 30 seconds.
They have also looked at which countries across Europe are searching the most for the Northern Lights.
The brainteaser is challenging people to find the four-sided star among the rest of the night sky to promote peak stargazing activity. If you can find it within 30-seconds, then you deserve a gold star yourself. Searches for ‘stargazing’ peak in Google search popularity in August.
It’s said that brainteasers are great to keep your mind going as they engage your brain in ways that promote mental agility, problem-solving skills, and overall cognitive health. They are also a fun and effective way to keep your brain sharp and just help improve your overall mental wellbeing.
The average person took more than a minute to find the four-sided star in this intricate puzzle. Meanwhile, stargazing in August outdoors should be much easier, with clearer skies and the added bonus of planned meteor showers and Northern Lights sightings to see.
Give the puzzle a go and see if you can find the four-sided star!

UK ranks third across Europe for Northern Lights searches, while Norway searches 36% more than other European countries
Northern Lights chasers in the UK search around 70,000 times on average each month, hoping to catch a glimpse of the phenomenon. According to the British Geological Survey, the Northern Lights may be more visible in the UK in 2024 due to the sun's expected peak in solar activity, which was evident to those in May 2024 when it illuminated skies up and down the UK. The UK ranked third for monthly searches for the Northern Lights.
When it comes to those who are searching the most for the Northern lights across Europe, it was Norway that ranked the highest for the number of average searches per month. SuomiCasino used Ahrefs’s related terms to find the translations for the Aurora Borealis used commonly across Europe.
Top eight countries searching for the Northern Lights across Europe
Rank | Country | Average monthly search volume | Northern Lights search term |
1 | Norway | 101,000 | nordlys |
2 | Italy | 74,000 | aurora boreale |
3 | United Kingdom | 70,000 | northern lights |
4 | Germany | 66,000 | polarlichter |
5 | France | 42,000 | aurore boreale |
6 | Netherlands | 40,000 | noorderlicht |
7 | Denmark | 38,000 | nordlys |
8 | Poland | 33,000 | zorza polarna |
- | Turkey | 33,000 | kuzey isikari |
People in Norway search for the Aurora Borealis, or Nordlys as it’s called there, over 101,000 times on average each month. Norway is a popular destination in Europe for viewing the Northern Lights, and it seems to be a popular search topic as well, with 27,000 more searches for the Aurora taking place there than in the country ranked second.
Italy is generally too far south to witness the northern lights, or aurora boreale as translated, but on rare occasions, they can be seen when solar activity is particularly strong. This means those in Italy must be searching for where best to see them, as they ranked second in the list of monthly searches with 74,000. A massive 36% behind the searches in Norway, however.
SuomiCasino commented:
“We know many individuals chase the Northern Lights and with increased sightings this year, we hope many others get to see it as well. It seems people in the UK love searching for the Aurora with peak geometric activity this year, but we know many people like to travel to likes of Norway and of course Finland to get a glimpse of this amazing spectacle. While it does require a bit of luck to see them, keeping an eye on geometric activity and statistical reports should help you decide when the best time is to go.”
Methodology
SuomiCasino gathered the top 30 European countries by population, and looked for search terms related to the Aurora Borealis on Ahrefs with the related terms function, to see who was searching the most for the Northern Lights. Using Google translate, they selected the term that had the highest search volume across the European countries for ‘Northern Lights’ to account for differences in language.
