Concert for Ukraine

Bradford Festival Choral Society perform Purcell's opera, Dido and Aeneas at 7.30pm at the Ukrainian Centre on the 25th June.

The choir’s last concert, J.S Bach St Matthew Passion achieved their largest audience since before the pandemic, and a bucket collection raised over £400 for the Ukraine appeal.

There will be a similar collection for the Purcell concert which also includes madrigals by Barbara Strozzi, music by Lady Mary Dering and a J.S Bach cantata.

The choir is led by their inspirational Musical Director Thomas Leech and will be joined by musicians from Baroque in the North, as well as talented young local soloists including Rhiannon Doogan as Dido, Patricia Yates as Aeneas, Aidan Edwards as the Sorcerer, Ruby Hendry as Belinda and the 1st Witch, and Jane Burnell as the 2nd Woman, the 2nd Witch and the Spirit.

Sara Daniel, trustee for the choir said:
"The music for this concert is so joyous and uplifting, I almost wish I could be in the audience to experience the full impact of everything coming together. It is going to be glorious!"
