Digital Detox Operator Expands Cabin Network

Unplugged, one of the UK’s original digital detox escape operators, has opened its first overseas cabin in Spain as well as expanding its British network with a further six stay venues.

The expansion, which will be fully operation by the middle of this month, marks a significant milestone for the wellness operator’s mission to provide serene and technology-free escapes whilst improving the overall wellbeing of guests.

Nestled in the picturesque countryside of Catalunya, Unplugged’s new Spanish cabin ‘Nala’ offers the perfect blend of tranquility and natural beauty.

For the first time, guests can immerse themselves in the impressive landscape, enjoying the breathtaking views of the nearby mountains, olive groves, and vineyards. Designed to provide the ultimate escape from digital distractions, Unplugged encourages guests to reconnect with nature and themselves.

Similar to all of Unplugged’s cabins, on arrival at Nala, guests lock their devices in a unique lockbox for three or four days, which is swapped for an old school Nokia for emergencies, a physical map, compass and a polaroid camera.

This is the optimum time required to reap the benefits of a true digital detox, which includes: better sleep, reduced anxiety & stress, sharpened focus and productivity, improved mood and human connection.

As well as the natural surroundings to explore, guests can also enjoy an array of books, cassettes - including Calm’s Sleep Stories - and board games located in the cabin.

“We are excited to bring the Unplugged experience to Spain - especially in the incredible surroundings that Cataluyna has to offer,” said Unplugged’s co- founder Hector Hughes.

“Our first international cabin represents our commitment to helping people worldwide rediscover the joy of being present in the moment without the constant intrusion of digital devices - something which continues to be an overwhelming issue globally.”

In addition to its Spanish debut, Unplugged is expanding its UK footprint with six new cabins, bringing the total to 30 across the country. These new cabins will be strategically located in some of the UK’s most beautiful and remote areas.

This includes three new cabins - Bronwyn, Merlin and Ziggy, in North Wales, another - Herbie - near Taporley in Cheshire and soon, Stanley and Willow near Tunbridge Wells in Kent, offering guests diverse options for their digital detox escapes.

Hughes added: “Expansion in the UK is something we are continuing to progress at Unplugged. We are having a tremendously successful summer, having recorded occupancy rates of 97% consecutively for July and August, demonstrating that these types of tech-free escapes are something that’s of high demand. We look forward to rolling out additional cabins throughout the year, in the UK and further afield too.”

All of Unplugged’s cabins are sustainably built and run solely on solar power.

Each cabin is also fit with panoramic windows immediate to the double or king size bed, allowing guests to wake naturally and swap ‘blue light’ for ‘starlight’. All (but one) cabins are dog-friendly and named after pets of previous guests.

All escapes are for a minimum of three nights, the scientifically proven time to reap the benefits from a digital detox, and start from £390 per cabin. For more information about the cabins and to book your escape, please visit the Unplugged website: https://unplugged.rest/
