The National Trust has teamed up with local eco-tourism company Yorkshire Coast Nature to bring technology and nature together in a day-long workshop for wildlife enthusiasts.

The birdsong workshop on Sunday 2 June is part of a series of events hosted by the National Trust on the Yorkshire Coast aiming to re-connect people with nature.

Richard Baines, Director and Ecologist at Yorkshire Coast Nature who will be leading the workshop said:

“This is a new way for people to take a deeper look at the science of birdsong. We’ll be taking a walk around Ravenscar, recording bird calls and song; then we’ll head indoors to transform those sound files into spectrograms which give us a visual representation. It’s fascinating to be able to see what we can hear – it’s a ground-breaking way of understanding familiar birdsong and a really useful learning aid to any new birders just starting out.”
