Gino D'acampo Restaurant Harrogate - New Autumn/Winter Menu

I don't know about you but I am not too fond of this time of the year: the nights are getting dark early, the clocks go back, night frosts are common and it's time to get out the winter coat.

Mind you, there are some good things to brighten up a damp day or evening and that is the new Autumn/Winter menu that has just been launched at the Gino D'Acampo restaurants. I particularly like the Harrogate restaurant as parking is easy, the staff are always pleasant and the food is always fresh and tasty.

Using only the best, well sourced seasonal ingredients, the new menu offers something for everyone as far as I could see with meat lovers, lovers of sea food, vegetarians, vegans and those with a gluten intolerance catered for.

The starter of Garlic Bread served with Smoked Provola Cheese and Mozzarella was a combination of many tastes, perhaps a few too many for my liking. The Grissini and Parma Ham is not new on the menu but was excellent.

Butternut squash risotto

My partner decided on the new Butternut Squash Risotto which leads the list of the new vegetarian dishes. Priced at £10.25 the dish was rich in butter, served with a sprinkling of Pecorino cheese and aromatic sage and Ecco qua it was a dish that warmed the cockles.

My Zucca pizza, which is one of the two new pizzas on the menu, came with Butternut squash, red onion, Cavolo Nero, Dolcelatte Cheese and walnuts. Certainly different from your traditional pizza toppings but all the tastes seem to work well together.

The new dessert menu features the Chocolate Panforte - a sweet, spicy, nutty and chocolate slab made with wildflower honey and amaretto liqueur. A bit like a rich Christmas cake - it had my partner wanting to lick the spoon.

My Rum Baba priced at £6.50 like the Chocolate Panforte was basically rum soaked sponge cake served with whipped vanilla cream and sour cherries. Great combination.

If you want good service, real Italian food served as it should be then the new menu promises to satisfy - you never know you might even bump into Gino himself, if not don't worry - there are plenty of photos of him hanging from the walls.

If you fancy your own photo taken you can always visit the photo booth upstairs but don't tell Gino - he would probably want to be in the photo with you!
