Hook And Line Fish & Chips In Leeds Gets Even Hotter

Two Leeds based independent food shops have joined forces to launch the world's hottest 'Chilli Chip Shop Vinegar'. Situated in the Leeds Arena quarter outside the Merrion Centre, the award winning fish and chip shop, Hook and Line and chilli specialist The Chilli Shop have developed the hot vinegar using Carolina Reaper chillies which apparently are the world's hottest chillies.

The vinegar is definitely hot but I'm not too sure it goes with fish and chips. It definitely tastes better on chips than fish. I found the miild version a little too mild and preferred the stronger one. The superhot format is hotter than a ticket to see Cher at Leeds Arena this autumn - but not as expensive as £6.50 buys you a bottle of this hot creation.

There are 3 products in the newly launched range which are available to buy in both shops; the Carolina Reaper vinegar which is available in a mild or superhot format and also a Carolina Reaper Chip Shop Spice.

The best thing though is the fish and chips themselves at Hook and Line. The meal deal at £7 consists of a very large battered haddock, chips and mushy peas or curry sauce and a drink. The haddock is thick and flakes away easily, the batter like the chips is cooked in beef dripping, though they can cook you a portion in vegetable oil if you wish.

You get a generous serving too, but I have to say they are some of the best fish and chips I have tasted this year, so it comes as no surprise that they are already in the Top 10 of the National Fish and Chip Awards for Best Newcomer.

There is a small seating area inside and an eating area with tables outside, but most of the people visiting whilst we were there seemed to be buying their fish and chips to takeaway.

A great partnership between two independent Yorkshire firms that offers something different.
