At the end of last season, things looked rough for Halifax FC Women, with all bar one of their players leaving the club. This season has required many new signings, alongside hard work and dedication from all involved.

Rob Mitchell, the team's head coach, is happy with their rebuilding progress so far:

“We are probably 12 months ahead of where I wanted us to be.”

Mitchell added “we are happy to be recruiting some big players; Chloe Fisher is going to be a big player for us and Megan Cardenas has come in and has been playing really well.”

However, this does not mean things have been smooth sailing, far from it, with wins hard to come by. When Halifax took on Nottingham Forest last month, they were met with an 8-0 defeat, but the experience gained from playing such an advanced team was crucial.

It has been essential to recruit players for the longevity of the club, however it has taken its toll on all involved, with Mitchell stating “it's been really demanding and stressful. Not everyone is aware of the other side of the job…as we can’t offer a paycheck, we have got to do other things and find other ways to be successful as a team."

The team are still looking for players as well as sponsorship; both of which are crucial for the progression of the team.

Mitchell added:

“we need to add some more experienced players to help educate the younger players on what it takes to get a positive result."

The rebuilding process continues with further additions expected soon, which everyone connected with the club hopes will see them avoid relegation.
