Holiday Hacks That'll Stretch Your Vacation

It’s that time of year again and, as we all start booking in our 2020 breaks, making the most of your holiday entitlement is a must.

Whether you’ve got the standard UK minimum - 28 days - or the British average, 33.5 days (both including Bank Holidays) there are lots of clever ways to hack the holidays and make your time off stretch.

Follow Eurocamp’s quick tips to max your allowance and enjoy a long and well-deserved break:

Enjoy a VE Day Special
Book off the week beginning 4 May, before anyone else does. This might seem like a weird choice, but this year’s first May Day Bank Holiday has been moved to a Friday to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day. So, instead of a Monday, we’ll all be off on Friday 8 May instead. Lots of people won’t realise this until nearer the time so act now to get a sneaky five days off for the price of four.

Bundle up the Bank Holidays
With some clever planning you can also turn other Bank Holidays into a seven, or even nine-day break - enough for a European getaway or family break - with just four or five days booked off.

And, with Bank Holidays at Easter, as well as late May, and August there’s plenty of opportunities to book a couple of days at either side to create a handy, extended break. For example, book off Monday 6 April to Thursday 9 April and take Tuesday 14 April too – and get a nine-day Easter Holiday window by taking only five days off.

Make it a Christmas to Remember
Christmas Day falls on a Friday this year which means that Boxing Day is a Saturday. That’s great news if you’re looking to prolong your festive break – as Boxing Day lands on a weekend it ‘carries over’ giving us all a bonus day off on Monday 28 December! So, plan ahead and book just three days off - 29, 30 and 31 December, to create a great mega-break with friends or family.
