Hotel Opens Shepherd’s Hut & Launches Star Gazing Telescopes!

Grasmere’s newest overnight stay, The Victorian House Hotel, has opened its doors offering discerning guests the opportunity to star gaze or stay in its riverside Shepherd’s Hut complete with patio doors, bath and heated towel rail!

The team behind London’s Georgian House Hotel in Pimlico, is also behind this ‘country cousin’ counterpart in the Lake District.

The Victorian House Hotel opened on 9th March 2020 and features 19 individually designed bedrooms and several open-plan shared guest spaces as well as a tranquil riverside garden and a range of outdoor facilities.

The new venture has seen a classic Victorian building injected with modern and romantic design elements and eclectic details to complement the building’s original features.

The informal environment is ideal for couples, families and outdoor adventurers looking for a countryside retreat.

There are four special Stargazer rooms which have dual-aspect hip-to-ceiling windows which join at the corner of the room to give a 180-degree view of the surrounding sky and landscape.

Telescopes have been put in every Stargazer room to give guests a chance to take a closer look at the starscape above them.

A unique Shepherd’s Hut at the end of the garden will sit by the river and offer an alternative accommodation option for guests. The luxury hut, able to sleep two people, as a country lodge feel and is full of thoughtful design features such as wide French doors opening onto the riverbank, reclaimed wood cladding, a wood-burning stove and comfy armchairs.

The Shepherd’s Hut also has a beautiful private bathroom with bath, heated towel rail and armchair!
B&B rates starting from £115 per night.
