Five-piece Idyllic beat off strong competition from eight other acts at Hard Rock Cafe Manchester’s latest mammoth musical showdown, to be crowned Battle of the Bands 2024 winners.
Across four nights of top-notch performances, the bands - Idyllic, Kyris, JiJ, Cruel Addiction, Indoor Shoes, Mercy Kelly, Echo Beach, The Dirty Looks and Pretty Velvet - played to a panel of expert judges, with Idyllic finally crowned the ultimate rock stars, winning the grand prize of £500, a Hard Rock Cafe goody bag and a paid monthly residency at the restaurant in 2025.
The young, unsigned band - whose members hail from Manchester and Liverpool - blend elements of rock 'n' roll with indie rock, reggae and post-punk, and are known for their complex riffs and quiet confidence.
It means so much to us as a young unsigned band trying to make a name for ourselves as a live band and build a loyal following so that we can have a career in the music business.”
We really enjoyed the experience and seeing how other bands played and presented themselves on stage as each band had something different to offer - but we felt that we had something special. We were nervous and I think that energy made us raise our game to make the performance special for us and the audience.

All nine bands that performed in the competition are a testament to the incredible talent we have in the North West, and we wish them all the best of luck for the future. The judges had a tough time picking a winner but Idyllic were worthy champions.

The band - which consists of Niall Doolan, Meg Lee, Ben Rogers, Joe Keech and Josh Peters - are already making plans to be back in the studio this August to record their next two singles for release in autumn 2024 and spring 2025. They are also working on new material in rehearsals to add to their existing material of 20 originals that make up their live set.
Idyllic will be playing the Tim Peaks Stage at the Kendal Calling Festival in August, and have a number of other live dates penciled in for October/November 2024.
Every Friday night visitors can rock out at Hard Rock Cafe Manchester to live music featuring talented rock ‘n’ roll bands including Late Last Night, Outfoxed and Crystal Visions to name but a few.
